"Race to Space" Loosely based upon the true story of Dr. Werner von Braun's Project Mercury, which in 1961 sent the chimpanzee 'Ham' into space. The son of "Dr. Wilhelm von Huber" (James Woods) befriends the chimpanzee that is being trained (by Annabeth Gish) to be shot into space as a test before Alan Shepard, the first American in space.
