CHRISTIAN SEBALDT   -   BIO

 

Mr. Sebaldt grew up and was educated in Munich, Germany.

 

For two years he called the Bavaria Studios and Lab in Munich his ‘home’ where he was a trainee from 1976 - 1978 working in every department, incl. the special effects unit.

 

He continued freelance as an Assistant Cameraman at first, then quickly started shooting industrials, documentaries, commercials and narrative films.

 

His work as a Director of Photography in the last two decades has taken him to many countries in Europe as well as Asia, Africa, Canada, Mexico and all over the US. He received the Art Directors Club Gold Award in 1984 for producing and editing the MGM/Lion-commercial (theatrical visual effects spot) for the ad-agency BBDO. He was also awarded the silver Clio for "Samsonite Bomb Squad".

 

Since he moved to the US, he was the Director of Photography on over twenty motion pictures, such as “Resident Evil Apocalypse”, Starship Troopers 2”,  “Feardotcom”, “Species 3” and “Race to Space”, all of them visual effects intensive. MGM, Twentieth Century Fox, Warner Brothers, Sony and Disney have released his movies.

 

He has also shot three television series, including “Pacific Blue” and “The Secret World of Alex Mack”, as well as music videos and network promos, many of which have won awards.

 

Mr. Sebaldt is a member of IATSE, the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences and the Visual Effects Society.
